When we are unsure of what to do we often look at those around us to determine what we should be doing. This can prevent us from looking foolish in public settings. More often than not social proof will have us doing things without us even thinking about it. A good example of this is when we are sitting in class and someone starts to pack their stuff up early. We hear them doing this and assume it must be time to go so we also start to pack our stuff up. Before you know it the whole class has packed their stuff up with 5-10 minutes left in the class. What are some other ways we fall into social proof without realizing it? What kinds of situations have us more likely to rely on social proof? What are some times where following social proof made you feel foolish?
